Timeline
- 1952 / Foundation of a football club in Frasnes-lez-Gosselies, a village in the northeast of the Province of Hainaut. The new club takes on the name Etoile Sportive (ES) Frasnoise, acquiring registration number 5571 upon joining the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA / KBVB). Starting its life as a competitive club in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3, the club settles on a pitch situated at Rue Jean-Baptiste Loriaux – several hundreds of yards to the south of the current Complexe Sportif Les Bons Villers.
- 1959 / Champions in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3D ahead of runners-up R Roux Sports, ES Frasnoise accedes to Provincial League 2 for the first time.
- 1974 / Finishing bottom of the table in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, RES Frasnoise drops back into Provincial League 3 after fifteen years, along with the club in second-last place, R Châtelineau Sport.
- 1979 / Moving away from its pitch at the southern end of the village, ES Frasnoise settles at the newly laid-out communal sports park, officially named Complexe Sportif Les Bons Villers – named after the municipality formed in 1977, of which Frasnes-lez-Gosselies is the most populous village. At this park, ES Frasnoise has the luxury of two pitches, the westernmost of which becomes the main pitch.
- 1983 / Runners-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3C, 1 point behind derby rivals Mellet Sports, ES Frasnoise goes on to win the play-offs, thus managing a return to Provincial League 2 after an absence of nine seasons.
- 1986 / ES Frasnoise finishes as runners-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, 5 points behind champions Trazegnies Sports.
- 1987 / ES Frasnoise finishes as runners-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C for the second year running, 3 points behind champions – and derby rivals – R Gosselies Sports.
- 1988 / ES Frasnoise finishes as runners-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C for the third year running, 2 points behind champions Trazegnies Sports.
- 1990 / Champions in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, 3 points ahead of closest rivals JS Fontainoise, ES Frasnoise accedes to Provincial League 1 for the first time in club history. Probably, the construction of a covered stand alongside the main pitch at Complexe Sportif Les Bons Villers was also undertaken around this time.
- 1991 / In the best season in club history (so far), ES Frasnoise finishes in eighth place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 1.
- 1998 / Finishing bottom of the table in Hainaut’s Provincial League 1, ES Frasnoise drops back into Provincial League 2 along with RAS Lessines-Ollignies, FC Gilly, RUSC Anderlues, and SC Brunehaut.
- 2000 / Finishing bottom of the table in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, ES Frasnoise descends into Provincial League 3 along with Jeunesse Turque and RASH Monceau.
- 2002 / As the club celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, ES Frasnoise acquires the royal epithet, thus officially changing its name to become Royale Etoile Sportive (RES) Frasnoise.
- 2006 / Runners-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3D, 5 points behind derby rivals Mellet Sports, RES Frasnoise goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus acceding to Provincial League 2.
- 2010 / Finishing bottom of the table in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, RES Frasnoise drops back into Provincial League 3 along with the club in second-last place, JS Montigny-Landelies.
- 2011 / Runners-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3D, 6 points behind champions SC Montignies, RES Frasnoise qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club knocks out EC Erpion in a spectacular match in R1 (7-6), only to suffer elimination in R2 at the hands of FC Gerpinnes with another unusual scoreline (5-6).
- 2016 / Finishing in second-last place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3D, RES Frasnoise descends into Provincial League 4 for the first time in club history, along with JS Froidchapelloise and bottom side REC Beaumont B.
- 2017 / Runners-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 4F, 3 points behind champions Racing Couillet-Marcinelle, RES Frasnoise qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club is knocked out in R1 by RSC Naastois B (1-4).
- 2018 / Finishing in fourth place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 4F, RES Frasnoise misses out on the promotion play-offs – but, unusually, the club’s B team wins the title in Provincial League 4G, no fewer than 19 points ahead of runners-up R Jumet SC B. As a result, RES Frasnoise’s first team is placed in Provincial League 3 for the new season. Due to a thorough renovation of the club’s facilities in Frasnes-lez-Gosselies, involving both of the football pitches being laid out anew, RES Frasnoise moves its activities to Terrain de la Bruyère du Coq, the training ground of RC Villers-la-Ville in Sart-Dames-Avelines, just across the provincial border in Walloon Brabant, for the first months of the 2018-19 season. In October 2018, the club returns to a completely renovated Complexe Sportif Les Bons Villers, with a new grass pitch on pitch 1 and a synthetic second pitch. From this moment on, virtually all of the club’s activities, including first team football, have been moved to this synthetic side-pitch.
