Belgium, province: Liège = Luik
26 VII 2025 / CS Juprelle - FC Ans 1-2 / Liège, Provincial Cup for P1-P2 teams - R1
Timeline
- ± 1950 / A set of prefabricated military barracks is constructed at Rue du Chainay, on the western outskirts of Slins, a village in the north of the Province of Liège, near the language border with Belgian Limburg. The constructions are intended to accommodate a staff of some 150 National Defence employees charged with operating the Glons radar station nearby.
- ± 1965 / The Belgian Army abandons the barracks in Slins, allowing the municipality of Slins (absorbed into the larger entity of Juprelle in 1977) to make use of the location freely, on the condition that it be used for youth activities.
- 1966 / Foundation of a gymnastics club in Slins, l’Etoile 68, which uses the former army barracks at Rue du Chainay. For leisure purposes, a playground as well as a football pitch are added to the set-up. In subsequent decades, the latter, referred to locally simply as La Plaine de Slins, is made use of by recreational teams such as Union Slins and, later, Olympique Voroux.
- 1986 / The grounds of the former army barracks as well as the football pitch are purchased by the municipality of Juprelle with the intention of constructing an indoor sports hall on the site.
- 1996 / The former army barracks are demolished
- 1999 / On the site of the former barracks, works begin on a projected indoor sports hall. The first stone of the building is laid by the Walloon Minister of Sports Affairs, William Ancion.
- 2002 / After three years of works, the indoor sports hall at Rue du Chainay, the so-called Centre Sportif de Juprelle, is officially inaugurated by the Walloon Minister of Sports Affairs, Michel Daerden, and Juprelle’s mayor, Christine Servaes.
- 2014 / After two rounds of renovations, the extended indoor hall in Slins is inaugurated by the Walloon Minister of Sports Affairs, André Antoine, and Juprelle’s mayor, Christine Servaes. That same year, members of the indoor football club Sherwood 21, one of the sports clubs to make use of the hall, take the decision to form a youth football club, Juprelle Football Academy, which acquires membership of Belgium’s Football Association with registration number 9628. Although focusing on the football academy, a first team is formed as well, to allow the best players to compete in Provincial League 4. While the young footballers of Juprelle Football Academy take part in Belgian FA’s youth competitions under the flag of neighbour club Entente Fexhe-et-Slins-Fragnée (later renamed Entente Fexhe-et-Slins), the first team takes part under the name Centre Sportif (CS) Juprelle, playing its matches on the pitch adjacent to the sports hall at Rue du Chainay.
- 2015 / The pitch at Rue du Chainay is laid out anew with a synthetic underground.
- 2018 / After some less than successful first seasons in Provincial League 4, CS Juprelle now manages a fifth place in Liège’s Provincial League 4A. Qualifying for the promotion play-offs, the club is knocked out in R1 by Patro Othée FC (3-1).
- 2019 / Finishing in third place in Liège’s Provincial League 4D, CS Juprelle qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club is knocked out in R2 by RJS Haccourtoise (0-2).
- 2020 / In the 2019-20 season, cut short due to the first COVID lockdown in March 2020, CS Juprelle finds itself in second place in Liège’s Provincial League 4D after 23 of 30 matches played, 4 points behind FC Warsage B. On that basis, due to extra promotion places being available, the club is promoted to Provincial League 3. The successful coach is Sandro Diliberto.
- 2022 / Finishing in fourth place in Liège’s Provincial League 3B, CS Juprelle qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club eliminates RUS Ferrières in R1 (0-4), only to bow out in R2 following a home defeat at the hands of R Seraing Athlétique FC (exact result unknown).
- 2023 / Runners-up in Liège’s Provincial League 3B, 4 points behind AS Houtain-Milanello, CS Juprelle qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club knocks out FC Herstal B in R1 (5-0), only to be eliminated in R2 by FC United Richelle B (2-3).
- 2024 / Runaway champions in Liège’s Provincial League 3B, 16 points ahead of closest followers RDC Cointe-Liège, CS Juprelle wins promotion to Provincil League 2. The successful coach is Romuald Averna, former professional league player at R White Star Woluwe FC, RFC Sérésien, and Seraing United. Also in 2024, after ten years, the youth academy partnership between the Juprelle Football Academy and Entente Fexhe-et-Slins is terminated, with all youth teams competing under the flag of CS Juprelle from now on.
- 2025 / Finishing in fifth place in Liège’s Provincial League 2B, CS Juprelle qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club knocks out RFC Trooz (0-1) and R Herve FC (2-1) in the two preliminary rounds, thus qualifying for the final, a three-way competition against RFC Welkenraedt and RFC Wallonia Thisnes. Defeating Thisnes in an away match, played at Hannut’s Stade Alfred Ducarme (0-1) and drawing its home match against Welkenraedt (1-1), CS Juprelle finishes top of the group, given that the two other competitors did not manage more than a goalless draw in their confrontation. As such, CS Juprelle wins back-to-back promotions, acceding to Liège’s Provincial League 1 for the first time in club history. The successful coach is Romuald Averna.
